My Clippy - a crafting kit for girls (review).

Now, this post title may make a few people chuckle, but I'm afraid it's an in-joke. Oh ok, I'll tell, it's just that we have an 'old' friend who for certain reasons has been known as 'Clippy' for a long time.

What 'My Clippy' actually is, is a crafting box set which enables your child to design and customise their own accessory. According to the marketing info, 'The product is inspired by designer Calypso Rose and allows girls to design and create personalised cards that can be displayed in the clear pocketed accessories provided in each set. Each product comes with a different theme, from vintage to disco, allowing girls to mix and match themes between sets to create their own unique look!'

The Bags of Style box did seem to contain a fair amount of stuff - the plastic bag itself, an optional silver strap to attach, a couple of embossing stamps, the cards which slot into the slots in the bag, a stand to help hold them still whilst decorating, and plenty of arty paper and templates. The idea is to stick whatever you like onto the cards and they can then be seen at the front of the bag - like so:

Tamsin added some photos herself, and thought the bag was quite 'cool' - here's the proof:

Actually I did think the photo of her 'wearing' it made her look quite grown up... not sure how much use it would get like that, but the beauty is you can take the strap off and hey presto! It's a pencil case!

The product does say it's intended for 8+, but actually my 6 year old had a lot of fun with it. The bag version retails at around £14.99 and there's a wallet one at £9.99. For more information see

Disclosure: we were sent the above set for the purpose of this review, but have not received payment. All the views expressed here are our own.
